Must a mixture containing chametz on Pesach be burned entirely, or can one redeem the value of the chametz and sell the rest?
Synopsis
The Rema rules that the entire mixture must be burned; redeeming the chametz portion's value and selling the rest is insufficient. The Mishnah Berurah notes that in cases of very great financial loss, the Acharonim permit selling the entire mixture to a non-Jew, excluding the value of the forbidden portion.
