Synopsis
The Mechaber rules that the chazan's announcement of Rosh Chodesh between Kaddish and the Amidah is not an interruption, since it is a need of the Amidah. The Mishnah Berurah extends this to announcements of tal umatar and al hanissim. The GRA connects this to the general principle that necessary things for prayer are like saying 'tol berich' (a neutral expression).
