During the first day of mourning (aveilus), is the mourner prohibited from wearing tefillin, and when does he resume?
Synopsis
The Mechaber rules that a mourner on the first day is prohibited from tefillin and from the second day onward is obligated, even if new consolers arrive. The Mishnah Berurah and Magen Avraham discuss whether the second day obligation begins immediately or only after sunrise, and whether tefillin are worn in the presence of new visitors.
