What tzitzit strings should be used for a garment whose warp is one material and weft is another (mixed-thread garment)?

Synopsis

The Magen Avraham and Mishnah Berurah rule that a garment with wool warp and silk weft (or vice versa) is exempt from Torah obligation but rabbinically obligated. Only wool tzitzit can exempt it; using only same-material (silk) tzitzit is insufficient. The garment cannot be exempted by its own kind.
