How is the 2000-amah Shabbat boundary measured for a city that is long and narrow, or square but not aligned with the cardinal directions?

ShabbatEruvin & Tehumin

Synopsis

When a city is elongated or skewed relative to the cardinal directions but still has four equal corners, the boundary is measured from its actual shape as-is — no adjustment is made to equalize width and length or to reorient the city. 2000 amot are measured in each direction from the four sides.
