May one tie a bucket to a well using a cord, belt, or rope on Shabbat?

ShabbatTying (Kosher)

Synopsis

The Mechaber permits tying a bucket to a well with a cord (meshicha) or belt (avnet) but not with a rope (chevel), because a rope is less valuable and will be left there permanently, making it a permanent knot. Our buckets that are not permanently assigned to a well are not permanent knots.
