Synopsis
The Mechaber rules that if one realizes mid-prayer that one touched a dirty place, cleaning with dirt, rocks, or rubbing on a wall suffices — no water is needed. The Mishnah Berurah notes that during Shema or Pesukei d'Zimra one must go and wash properly with water.
