When is the optimal (l'chatchila) time to begin the Shacharit Amidah?
Synopsis
The Mechaber rules the mitzvah is to begin at netz hachamah (sunrise). The Mishnah Berurah reinforces this and says even during Selichot season and in winter one should wait for netz. The Pri Megadim permits praying before netz on Shavuot night when the congregation has been awake all night.
