What items should be placed on the Seder plate, and who needs one?
Synopsis
The Mechaber requires a plate with three matzot, maror, charoset, karpas (or another vegetable), vinegar or salt water, and two cooked dishes (one for Pesach, one for Chagigah). Custom is meat and an egg. The Rema adds arrangement instructions so one does not bypass mitzvot. Only the head of the household needs the full plate; others take from his.
