Is an eruv placed on top of a reed or giant reed (kaneh/kandas) growing from the ground valid?

ShabbatEruv Techumin

Synopsis

All authorities agree that an eruv on a growing reed is invalid because the softness makes snapping likely (possible Torah violation), and this gezeirah applies even at twilight and even for a mitzvah. If detached and stuck in ground, it is valid.
