Who is disqualified from writing tefillin?
Synopsis
The Torah's formulation 'you shall bind them… you shall write them' establishes that only those obligated in and believing in the commandment of binding (wearing tefillin) may write them. Slaves, women, minors, non-Jews, Samaritans, apostates, and informers are all disqualified.
