Is bitul reshut (renouncing domain) valid if performed without the recipients being physically present?
Synopsis
The Aruch HaShulchan rules that bitul must be performed in the presence of the recipients, since it is a verbal declaration (devarim b'alma) that the rabbis enacted, and it was only enacted when said in the recipients' presence.
