What qualifies an enclosure as 'enclosed for dwelling' (mukaf l'dirah), and what is the required sequence of construction?

ShabbatEruvin

Synopsis

An enclosure qualifies as mukaf l'dirah only if the dwelling preceded the enclosure (patach v'achar kach hikif — opened and then enclosed). If enclosed first and dwelling-purpose added later, it does not qualify and requires a procedural fix.
