Is it permitted to float an object through water (hashtatah) on Shabbat?
Synopsis
It is forbidden to propel an object through water toward or away from oneself on Shabbat. This prohibition extends to pushing woodchips through a pool to clean the water. The prohibition does not apply to floating objects in a vessel.
