Synopsis
A fully non-Jewish hired worker — even one hired for many years — is not a permanent slave owned in body. The Torah's prohibition applies only to a slave owned permanently (kinyan ha-guf). Therefore the master is not commanded regarding his Shabbat rest, and the lenient rules applicable to a regular non-Jew apply.
