May one go out on Shabbat with medical dressings on a wound?
Synopsis
The Mechaber permits going out with healing agents (cotton, sponge, garlic peels, bandages, compresses) on a wound since they heal and function as ornaments. If they fall off, they may not be replaced on Shabbat. A string or band tied around the wound (not for healing) is forbidden, but wrappings to hold the dressing in place are permitted.
