May a man go out on Shabbat wearing a signet ring (ring with a seal)?
Synopsis
The Mechaber rules a man may not go out with a ring without a seal (he is liable). If it has a seal, Rashi says he is exempt, while Rabbeinu Tam and the Rambam permit it because a signet ring is only an ornament for a man. Items that are ornaments for both men and women are also forbidden for men.
