Why does one not say the blessing 'asher bachar banu' (who chose us) on Shabbat Kiddush as one does on Yom Tov?
Synopsis
The Taz explains that Shabbat was given at Marah (before the Torah was given at Sinai), so at that point God had not yet 'chosen us' fully. The full choosing occurred only with the giving of the Torah, which is when Yom Tov obligations were established.
