May a person use proceeds from a prostitute's fee (etnan zonah) or a dog's exchange price to build a synagogue or Torah scroll?

Synopsis

The Rema rules that proceeds from a prostitute's fee or the exchange of a dog are forbidden for synagogue construction or writing a Torah scroll. But if money (rather than the physical fee itself) was paid, it may be used. A woman who is merely unmarried and promiscuous does not trigger the prohibition.
