Ran
R' Nissim of Gerona (1310-1375) was a leading Sephardic halakhic authority and philosopher who lived in Barcelona and Gerona during the 14th century. He is best known for his Chiddushei HaRan, novellae on the Talmud that synthesize earlier rabbinic sources with philosophical insights and remain influential in Jewish legal study. His works significantly shaped Sephardic halakhic methodology and continue to be cited as authoritative sources in classical and contemporary Jewish jurisprudence.
