Rosh
R' Asher ben Yechiel (1250-1327) was a prominent German-Jewish halakhic authority who migrated to Spain and became one of the most influential Ashkenazi decisors of the medieval period. He authored the Piskei HaRosh, a condensed compilation of halakhic rulings based on the Talmud, which became foundational for subsequent Jewish legal codification. His rulings were widely cited in the Tur and later in the Shulchan Aruch, and he is considered a primary source for Ashkenazi legal tradition.
