Should individuals stand beside the prayer leader during the recitation of penitential prayers on a communal fast?
Synopsis
The early authorities taught that two individuals should stand beside the prayer leader, one on each side, and recite penitential prayers together with him, based on the example of Moses with Aaron and Hur. However, this practice is not observed in modern times, as all participants now recite the slichot together with the leader.
