What are the permitted boundaries for those who venture out on Shabbat to rescue lives (from non-Jews, a river, or rubble), and may they return armed when the enemy remains a threat?
Synopsis
Rescuers who depart on Shabbat to save Jewish lives receive 2,000 amot from the site of rescue. When the enemy force remains dangerous and they fear remaining there, they may return to their homes on Shabbat with their weapons.
