Does a tzurat hapetach (doorframe-shaped structure) remedy a breach wider than ten cubits, and does the Rambam dispute this?
Synopsis
The Mechaber rules that a tzurat hapetach remedies even a breach wider than ten cubits in a courtyard or alley with residents. The Rambam disagrees: a tzurat hapetach only helps for a breach over ten cubits when standing exceeds open. In an open field, a tzurat hapetach does not help in all four directions without residents.
