Is it permitted to smell myrtle (hadas) that is attached to the ground on Shabbat?

Smelling attached myrtle is permitted because there is no concern of picking it (since one only wants to smell, not eat). But smelling an attached citron, apple, or other edible item is forbidden lest one pick it to eat.
