May hot water be heated on Shabbat to wash an infant after circumcision?

ShabbatMilah

Synopsis

In Talmudic times, washing was essential for infant survival and permitted on Shabbat. Today's practice: the Mechaber holds no special bathing permission remains; the Rema records the Ashkenazic custom of washing before the bris in pre-heated water and after the bris after Shabbat, with full Shabbat desecration permitted if there is apparent danger.
