May one smooth food (memachek) on Shabbat?
Synopsis
The Rema permits smoothing food on Shabbat since it is edible without smoothing, so there is no issue of memachek (smoothing/erasing). However, one who is stringent with apple sauce and similar items that are customarily smoothed receives a blessing.
