May a person for whom eating is harmful — and not eating is their true pleasure — abstain from eating on Shabbat?
Synopsis
All authorities permit a person for whom eating causes harm to abstain, since oneg Shabbat means pleasure, not pain. The Aruch HaShulchan expands this to any food that is unpleasant to one's palate.
