How many times should the strap of the shel yad be wrapped around the arm, and how should it be wrapped on the finger?
Synopsis
The minimum requirement is that the strap encircle the arm and can reach the middle finger for three wraps. The universal custom is 6 or 7 wraps on the arm. For the finger, Kabbalistic sources specify 2 wraps on the lower joint and 1 on the middle joint. The Rema prohibits wrapping the strap over the titura to secure it.
