At what stage of growth does unripe fruit (boser) receive the blessing of Borei Pri HaEtz?
Synopsis
The Mechaber rules that unripe grapes get Ha'Adamah until they reach the size of a white bean (pol halavan), after which they get HaEtz — but since the exact size is unknown, one always blesses Ha'Adamah until the fruit is very large. The Rema adds specific markers for carobs and olives. The Gra disagrees and holds the threshold is the stage of tithing obligation (onat hama'asrot), not the criteria from Shevi'it.
