Do foods eaten after the meal but before Birkat HaMazon (the post-meal period) require blessings?
Synopsis
In Talmudic times, the post-bread pre-Birkat HaMazon period (after lifting hands from bread) created a separate eating occasion requiring blessings on all foods. Today this is irrelevant since we do not lift hands from bread before Birkat HaMazon, though some hold it applies at formal festive meals.
